One of Britain’s top mimics and comedians, Alistair McGowan, hosted the prestigious 2018 ECA Industry Awards at the London Hilton Bankside Hotel on Friday 8th June.
Organised by the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA), the ECA Industry Awards recognise key achievements of the finest talent in the sector, providing a great opportunity for contractors and wider industry associates to showcase exceptional work.
Top-performing businesses and individuals from across the electrotechnical and engineering services gathered to see who had scooped the honours at this year’s ceremony. Luton based Chalmor, experts in lighting and heating solutions, beat off stiff competition from five other shortlisted companies, including two commendations, to win the coveted Best Energy Solutions Project Award.
Steven Henry, Director of Chalmor, said “We are delighted to have won this much sought after and highly respected award. For over 30 years we have been providing innovative heating and lighting solutions. We are proud that our approach and solutions have been recognised and celebrated on such a scale by the wider industry and our peers.”
The Best Energy Solutions Project Award recognises those who have delivered a significant energy-related solution. The judges were impressed, not only by Chalmor’s breadth of energy-related solutions and their expertise and commitment in providing energy and cost savings solutions to their clients, but specifically work undertaken by Chalmor on a major town centre car park. Chalmor’s holistic approach and tailored engineered solution saw them using the latest high performance LED lighting to deliver 6 years’ increased service and £50,000 cost savings to the busy town centre car park in Northampton.
To ensure all customers, regardless of size, sector or budget, are able to access Chalmor’s wide range of products and energy saving solutions, there a number of funding schemes available, such as the Carbon Trust’s Green Business Fund.

Eligible companies can apply for a capital contribution of 15% of the total project costs, which does not have to be paid back, as long as they use an accredited Green Business Directory Supplier, such as Chalmor, and can show return on investment in less than 5 years.
Steven explains “At Chalmor, we have a great range of products and energy saving solutions designed to assist organisations move towards a low carbon economy, but financial constraints can see some customers opt for a short term option rather than a more intelligent system that will deliver significant savings over the long term.”
